What should we eat this week? How do I make a family meal plan? Let me answer both of those questions with my free weekly meal plan including a printable grocery list!
Family Meal Plan
Your family needs to eat, and the job of feeding them lands squarely on your shoulders.
The key to making this job easy is MEAL PLANNING!
Plan all your meals for the week, write out your grocery list, and then head to the store to buy the groceries. Sounds easy enough, but I think a lot of us just end up at the grocery store buying the same things week after week, and then we get home and say “I have nothing to cook for dinner!”
Prevent this from happening now! Sign up for the Mom’s Dinner Newsletter and have my Weekly Menu Plan and Printable Grocery List delivered to your email every Friday morning. Cross off the groceries you already have in your kitchen and head to the store completely prepared!
Weekly Menu Plan #1
I provide 4 delicious and easy dinners, with recipes, that you can make for your family this week. You simply add three more meals and your 7 day family meal plan is done. Here are three dinner categories I recommend adding to your plan :
- One night out.
- A leftover night (leftover re-do ideas provided below)
- Kids Choice night (think pizza, chicken fingers, tacos, spaghetti, or mac n’ cheese)
Creamy Caesar Chicken Bake
Sunday dinner calls for a good roasted chicken and time to sit down at the table with your family. This week plan my Creamy Caesar Chicken Bake, store bought couscous or wild rice pilaf and oven roasted broccoli.
If you have picky eaters, like me, you can roast one or two chicken breasts without the sauce.
Skillet Dirty Rice & Beans
Plan this dinner on a night when you don’t want to do dishes, because it is all made in one pan! My Skillet Dirty Rice & Beans is a great all-in-one dinner.
Instant Pot Creamy Potato Soup
As the kids get head back to school after the holidays and schedules get hectic you will NEED your Instant Pot. Plan my Creamy Potato Soup for a night when you need a fast dinner! It only cooks for 4 minutes. WHAT the #*%@!?!?
Put out some saltine crackers and a veggie plate with ranch dip and dinner’s done.
Make Ahead Mason Jar Tortellini Salad
This would be a perfect make ahead dinner for a night when you just ….can’t! Grab a rotisserie chicken to have with these awesome Make Ahead Mason Jar Tortellini Salads from Kroll’s Korner. They are fun and delish, and maybe your kids will actually eat salad if it’s in a jar and has pasta in it! Maybe!
Printable Grocery List
Head to the store with confidence that you will end up with groceries to actually make dinner for your family!
Simply cross of the items that you already have in your kitchen, and then add the items you need for the rest of the week (lunches, breakfasts, pantry staples, etc…).

Leftover Re-Do Ideas
I know a lot of kids (and adults) that do not want to eat leftovers the same way they were served the first time. So if you are living in a house like this, here are a few great ideas on re-making your leftovers into something spectacular and unrecognizable the second time around:
- Creamy Caesar Chicken Bake over pasta with a few sauteed veggies added in.
- Bean & Rice Burritos- put the dirty rice and beans in a tortilla and melt a little cheese over top.
- If you have rotisserie chicken left- chicken noodle soup, chicken enchiladas, creamy chicken tacos or hot artichoke chicken salad.
I hope this list helps you feed your family a little easier this week! Come back for more next week.
