Sambal Aioli

Sambal Aioli is an Asian inspired mayonnaise based dipping sauce. It is made with just 4 ingredients and comes together in about 5 minutes! It is particularly delicious on Asian Brussels Sprouts.

It also makes an amazing dipping sauce for fried shrimp, chicken skewers, or french fries, really anything you can think of!

Ingredients

You only need 4 simple ingredients to make this Sambal Aioli!

Sambal Oelek – is an Indonesian chili sauce that is made primarily of chili peppers. You can find it in your local grocery store near the other Asian ingredients.

How to Make Sambal Aioli

In a bowl add the mayo, sambal, honey and fresh lime juice.

Whisk it all together until it is creamy and well combined.

Recipe FAQ’s

Are Sambal and Sriracha the same thing?

While Sambal and Sriracha have some similarities in that they are both chile sauces, they are not the same thing. Sambal is a thicker more textured sauce that has less of a vinegar flavor profile than Sriracha.

What is Sambal made of?

Sambal is an Indonesian chile paste made primarily of a variety of chilies. Some other ingredients include garlic, ginger, shallots, sugar, lime and even shrimp paste.

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Sambal
  • 2 teaspoon honey
  • ½ teaspoon fresh lime juice

Instructions
 

  • Whisk all the ingredients together in a bowl.
  • Serve immediately or store in the fridge for up to a week.
