Simple Syrup is just that… simple sugar syrup that is perfect for sweetening cocktails, tea or coffee. You just need 2 ingredients to make it; sugar and water. It only takes a few minutes to put together and you can keep the simple syrup in the fridge for up to a month.

bottle of simple syrup

Depending on how sweet you want to make your drink you can use the traditional simple syrup 1:1, sugar and water, or the rich simply syrup, which is 2:1.

One of our favorite cocktails to use simple syrup in is this Tequila Smash Cocktail!

How To Make Simple Syrup

It couldn’t be easier to make a batch of simple syrup. Place a small saucepan over medium low heat. Add 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of water. Let the sugar melt into the water, and that is it! Your simple syrup is done.

You will want to cool the simple syrup and then store it in the fridge.

Storing Simple Syrup

After the syrup is made and cooled you just need to transfer it to a glass bottle or jar. We like to use mason jars. Keep it in the fridge for up to a month.
