Take 2 boxes of Stove Top Stuffing and turn it into the most amazing Stuffing that tastes like it is homemade. You'll just add lots of butter, some onions, celery, herbs and more butter! Perfect for Thanksgiving and the Holidays.
2 ¼cupchicken stock or turkey stock, broth will work too
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 400℉NOTE- there is no salt added to this recipe. The Stove Top stuffing mixture, salted butter and broth will have enough salt to flavor the stuffing.
In a large skillet over medium low heat melt 7 tablespoon of butter, add the chopped onion and celery. Let it sauté for about 15-20 minutes, so that the veggies soften.
1 yellow onion, 1 ½ cup celery
Add in the sage and poultry seasoning and sauté another 5 mins.
Stir in the 2 bags/boxes of Stove Top stuffing mix. Stir well to coat with butter
12 oz chicken or turkey Stove Top Stuffing
Remove from the heat
Pour in the chicken broth. Then stir again so it absorbs the liquid.
2 ¼ cup chicken stock
Grease the sides and bottom of a 9x9 pan with 1 tablespoon of softened butter.
Pour the stuffing mixture into the pan.
Cube the remaining 2 tablespoon of butter, dot the top of the stuffing with the cubes.
Place in a 400°F oven, uncovered, for 20 minutes. The middle gets soft and buttery and the top will have crispy bits!
Serve hot with a side of gravy - see notes for amazing gravy recipes.
Notes
Do not add extra salt to the stuffing. Between the salted butter, chicken stock, and the seasonings included in the Stove Top boxes, it should be salty enough.
Don't skimp on the butter, it is part of the reason this is so tasty.
Use a really flavor chicken or turkey stock for the most flavor
