A fresh squeezed margarita made with blood oranges, limes and of course silver tequila. Excellent margarita for when blood oranges are in season! Also makes a great holiday margarita.
Run a lime or blood orange around the edge of your glass, or you can dip the rim of the glass lightly in agave syrup.
lime wedge or blood orange slice
Dip the rim of the glass in the kosher salt so it adheres to the rim. Then fill the glass with ice, set aside.
Blood Orange Margarita
Add a little ice to a cocktail shaker (in a pinch use a mason jar with a lid). Add in all the ingredients.
2 oz fresh squeezed blood orange juice, 1 oz fresh squeezed lime juice, 1.5 oz silver tequila, .5 oz Cointreau, .25 oz agave syrup, pinch of kosher salt
Shake vigorously for about 20 seconds.
Strain into the prepared glass.
Optionally you can top with a little soda water or club soda.
Garnish the glass with a blood orange wheel or a lime wedge.
