This is a simple recipe for garlic bread that turns out nice and soft on the inside and slightly crisp around the edges. It is a universally loved side dish for dinner!
If the bread isn't sliced, slice it into desired thickness, anywhere from ¼ inch to 1 inch each.
French bread, Italian loaf, Ciabatta, or Sourdough
Cut a very large piece of foil that will wrap all the way around your loaf of bread Place the sliced bread on the middle of the foil.
Starting at one end of the bread, butter one side of each piece of bread, leaving it in a loaf form. No need to butter both sides of each piece of bread, the butter will transfer from slice to slice in the oven.
1 stick salted butter
Now spread apart the bread slices and sprinkle a little (or a lot) of garlic powder between the layers onto the buttered side of the bread.
garlic powder
Push the bread slices back together so it looks like a whole loaf again.
Wrap the loaf completely in foil. I like to place the loaf on a rimmed baking sheet so if any butter leaks it doesn't spill in the oven.
