Super Flavorful Graing without Drippings

INGREDIENTS Butter Onions Rosemary Thyme Salt, pepper Flour Meat drippings, stock or broth

To make really good gravy without pan drippings you need to start with a really great flavor base. For this recipe that means caramelized onions, garlic, rosemary and chicken base. This steps brings the most flavor!

For all the love of gravy don’t skip this ingredient! Chicken Base is like the grown up version of bouillon.

Yes, you can make beef/pork/vegetarian gravy! Simply swap the broth for flavor of choice broth such as beef, roasted vegetable base, mushroom base or pork base.

Add in flour to the caramelized onions to help build a roux and get rid of the flour taste. Then begin adding in chicken broth and use a whisk to really keep the flavors melding until its smooth. 

Optional- stir in a tablespoon or two of heavy cream to add richness.

Strain the onions, garlic, and rosemary out of your gravy by pouring it through a fine mesh sieve.(Make sure you have a big enough bowl underneath!)
