Add some ice in a cocktail shaker. Measure in the tequila, lime juice and simple syrup. Shake vigorously for 20 seconds.
Strain into a stemmed cocktail glass (a coupe or martini glass work perfectly).
If you can pour the red wine into a smaller more manageable bottle.
Using the backside a bar spoon or kitchen spoon, place it very close to the margarita and angle it down towards the liquid.
Place your thumb or finger over the opening of the wine bottle to slow the flow of the wine to a trickle. Dribble it over the back of the spoon so it drips on top of the margarita.
It should be sitting on top of the margarita. Keep dripping in until you have about ¼ inch of wine on top of the margarita.
Don't stir - serve beautifully layered.

Simple Syrup- 1:1 ratio sugar and water.In a small saucepan add 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar over low heat. Once the sugar is dissolved, remove from heat and let cool. Keep in the fridge for up to 12 months!Tips to make sure it layers -
Pour your margarita first, let it settle for a couple seconds.

Place your finger or thumb over the mouth of the wine bottle and slowly let it drip from around your finger onto the back of the spoon and then into the drink.
It should sit right on top of the margarita, making beautiful layers.
