Añejo Manhattan is made just like a classic Manhattan Cocktail but it is updated with Añejo Tequila. The flavors of vanilla and caramel blend perfectly with the sweet vermouth and bitters. It is a perfect cocktail for tequila lovers!
Pour the Anejo, sweet vermouth, and both bitters over ice in a cocktail pitcher or shaker.
This cocktail should be stirred around the ice, not shaken.
Then strain into a glass:You can serve the drink up in a stemmed glass (like a coupe glass), or over ice in a rocks glass. If serving over ice I like to use one large clear ice cube. This large clear ice cube maker from Amazon works amazingly!!
Use a quality Añejo tequila that is a nice dark caramel color. Generally a good Añejo will be $50+. When you smell it, it should have aromas of caramel and vanilla.
This drink will be stirred, not shaken.
After pouring the liquid over ice give it a thorough stir, this will melt a little water in, mix the flavors together and open the complex flavors of the Añejo.
