I wasn’t sure I was going to get a Friday Gratitude in this week! But then I remembered some great advice that I got a couple weeks ago…. it doesn’t have to be perfect. So this one will be short and sweet. Not perfect, but done.
Here are a few moments of gratitude from this week:
Leadership
This week I did my mommy duty and volunteered to help with my daughter’s Girl Scout camp. They were out of school on Monday so the 4th grade GS troop planned a preview camp for the K-1st grade Brownies from the same school.
It was so great to watch the 4th grade girls become little leaders and take pride in their rolls. They guided the girls from station to station and entertained them in between. They made sure the little ones were comfortable and safe. It was an awesome learning experience for them.
It was so great to watch Maddie and all her friends fall into leadership rolls and be such great roll models for the younger girls.
She’s Crafty
At this fun Girl Scout day camp I was the adult in charge of the craft table, because, you know… Im crafty! So anyways, at the first craft table the girls made sock bunnies. Which was a super cute craft and the girls loved it. However it did not fill the entire 25 minutes that they had at my station.
So we added a second “craft” to eat up time. I was a little nervous about this extra station. We let the girls make “snow”. I thought for sure it was going to end up like slime. BTW I HATE slime and I know I’m not alone in this sentiment!
But it wasn’t like slime at all. It only has 2 ingredients, comes together really quickly, and cleans up fast. Not to mention it smells amazing!
This is a GREAT craft to make with your little ones. It is a perfect sub for slime!
Snow
Ingredients
- 1 16 oz Baking Soda Box
- ⅓ cup hair conditioner
Instructions
- In a tub or large bowl combine the entire box of baking soda and the hair conditioner. Mix it together with your hands and watch it turn into "snow". Make snowballs and snowmen, sprinkle it like snow, and let it squish in your fingers. Discard after use.

10,000 and Counting
Once in a while I go back thru my old posts on my site to see if they are still receiving any attention from Pinterest or other social media sites. This week I was super excited to see that I have a post that has just about reached 10,000 views!!! I can’t even believe it!
It is my recipe for Instant Pot Cajun Rice with Chicken & Sausage. Check it out and help get me to 10,000 : )
I was so excited to see the view counts for this post and to see all my hard work moving me closer to my goals!
Dreams
I think I have talked about this before but every night before my daughter goes to bed she asks that we give her something to dream about. Sometimes it is something simple like dream it is your birthday and you got all the presents you ever wanted, or dream we won the lottery. And sometimes it is more elaborate like the one my husband tells her about having a huge tree house in our cul-de-sac tree with a bridge from her room to the tree, she loves that one.
One night this week Maddie and I came up with her dream together and it was so cute! We laughed and talked about the dream for a while before she went to bed.
Her dream was that on the last day of school we would hold something called the “summer olympics”. There would be different summer themed contests that Maddie and all her friends could participate in:
- Hula Hooping
- Jumping Rope
- Hop Scotch
- Sidewalk Chalk Drawing
- Tree Climbing
- Pool Jumping
- Ring Diving (where you throw rings into the pool and dive for them)
- Watermelon Seed Spitting
- Popsicle Eating Contest
I love these moments of imagination with my daughter. It truly makes me happy!
